Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Discharged from Hospital in Lagos Following Deadly Road Accident

Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, local government spokespeople confirmed on late Wednesday. The 36-year-old was part of a serious road collision outside Lagos on Monday, a horrific crash that took the lives of two of his close associates.

Under Observation for Minor Injuries

Joshua had been under observation while recovering from minor injuries, his promoter had said on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on X that Joshua was judged healthy enough to “recuperate at home”.

“Joshua and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two friends who passed away as they were being prepared for repatriation,” the commissioner stated.

A Tribute to the Fallen

Those who lost their lives were named as Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. The official further stated that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and overcome with emotion over the loss of his two close friends.”

His release from the hospital follows the sports world had expressed its support for the star in the wake of the terrible crash.
