Reigning Sabalenka Secures Consecutive WTA Player of the Year Honors.
The top-ranked player Aryna Sabalenka has been voted the Women's Tennis Association top performer of the year for a second straight year.
The twenty-seven-year-old captured four titles – the highest tally on the circuit – including retaining the US Open in September versus Amanda Anisimova to claim her fourth Grand Slam singles triumph.
A Year of Consistency
Across the season, Sabalenka competed in a circuit-leading nine finals, with losses coming to Madison Keys in the Australian Open final in January and Coco Gauff in the French Open final.
The star player also claimed victory at the Brisbane International in January, the Miami Open in March, and the Madrid Open as the clay season progressed. She spent the entire year as the top-ranked player, finishing 2025 on top of the rankings for a second straight year.
This past summer, she became the first player to exceed 12,000 WTA ranking points after Serena Williams did so nearly a decade ago.
Record-Breaking Statistics
Sabalenka concluded the competitive year with a sixty-three to twelve win-loss record, and collected a historic £11m in prize money.
She earned almost 80% of the votes submitted by international tennis media.
On 28 December, she is scheduled to face 2022 Wimbledon runner-up Nick Kyrgios in a high-profile mixed-gender exhibition match in a bid to "raise women's tennis to a greater prominence".
Other WTA Award Honorees
- Returning Star of the Year: Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, twenty-eight, was voted after taking 13-month break after the birth of her first child and making her comeback to the sport at the start of this year.
- Newcomer of the Year: Canadian 19-year-old Victoria Mboko received the award after starting the season ranked outside the world's top 300 and climbing to world number 18.
- Partnership of the Year: Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend were voted after capturing their second Grand Slam title as a pair.
- Most Improved Player of the Year: Amanda Anisimova was named after making five finals.
Recently, Carlos Alcaraz secured three awards in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards, including the year-end number one award, while Jannik Sinner was voted fans' favourite for a third consecutive time.
