An IT issue at the airport's ATC meant no aircraft could arrive or depart from the facility.

Flight operations have restarted at Scotland's primary international airport after a substantial technical issue at the control tower brought the international hub to a standstill.

All aircraft movements were stopped because of an systems problem that was reported at approximately 08:30.

Several flyers reported being stuck in aircraft on the tarmac as the outage continued.

Flights Resume with Ongoing Delays

The airport confirmed at 10:40 that services were back online, and expressed gratitude to passengers for their "understanding and cooperation".

That said, significant disruption are anticipated to persist for some time. Services bound for London Gatwick, Bristol, Amsterdam and Frankfurt have been cancelled, with many others subject to postponements.

A spokesperson had initially projected that dozens of flights could be impacted.

"Passengers are advised to get in touch with their carrier for the current status on their individual travel plans," officials reiterated.
